Effective collaboration between basic and clinical researchers is the central engine for advancing biomedical innovation.

The goals of this award are to:

• Provide opportunities for innovation, and inter-disciplinary and cross-institutional collaboration with an emphasis on bridging the divisions between basic and clinical scientists
• Promote team research that brings innovation to the patient bedside and best practices to the community
• Exploit the mentoring skills of faculty from the participating institutions to encourage and develop junior translational scientists' careers
