Summer Program for Undergraduate Research
Center for Study of Gene Structure and Function
The Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) of the Center for Study of Gene Structure & Function at Hunter College of the City University of New York gives undergraduates hands-on experience in one of the 50 research laboratories of the Gene Center at Hunter College in NYC. The goal of the program is to train and encourage undergraduate students to pursue graduate study in biomedical research. The Research Internship Period is eight weeks beginning on June 4, 2012 from 9-5 daily, Mondays to Fridays.
College sophomores or juniors with a major in Biology, Chemistry, Biopsychology, Biophysics or Biotechnology and other Biomedical research areas are welcome to apply. Members of minority groups underrepresented in science, African Americans, Latinos or Native Americans are especially encouraged to apply.
Students admitted into our Summer Program are offered an award package which includes:
- a $3,000 stipend
- reimbursement of travel expenses to/from the program
- housing at the International House in Manhattan at no cost to those unable to commute
- opportunity to present research at the Leadership Alliance National Symposium
